June 29,, 2013

Seriously, its the last weekend of June already!  Why doesn't JANUARY go this fast?

This week has brought us a lot of rain, so working on the table has been stagnated.   So when the rain keeps coming the tough go painting something else!  I couldn't stand it anymore, so I went through my pictures and decided on one to paint.
I think I am pretty much done with it, but might tweak it a little more...

With all the rain comes growth of all things growing outside... here are shots of the garden this week!

 Zinnias are  multiplying...

Look at that lavendar grow!  And it smells sooooooo good!

Coreopsis are popping in and taking over!

Hydrangea is just starting to open up....

Can't remember what these are called, so today we will call them pretty purple things...

The Tiger lilies are starting to pop...

And lo and behold the corn!  Its probably grown twice the size of last week!  All this rain should produce a juicy crop!  Although this is field corn and not sweet corn (darn it!) still should be a good yield.

Its 4th of July week and there are lots of fun things on the schedule, so might be late for next weeks posting....will tell you all about it then.

June 23, 2013 Super moon Sunday

Hello again!  Tonight is not only the second day after the Summer Solstice, it is  Super Moon night.  The moon is supposed to be closer to Earth and have a greater gravitational pull.  Not sure what that means to me and you, but I think gravity has already done a number on my bod.  Not looking forward to any more of that!

ANYWAYS...

I love summer.  I would rather be warm than cold.  Rather have color in my garden than the white, gray and slush of winter any day, but I am smart enough to know that without one, you can't appreciate the other.

One of the reasons that I like summer, is you just can't enjoy this on a winters day...

Blues and sand colors are some of my very favorites... !

I haven't been able to do my table this week, just have had one thing after another, but the garden has something new every day... here is what's in bloom this week...

Oriental Lillies are just starting to show themselves...

The coreopsis is starting to pop...

The clematis is going crazy!

and the corn field?   This week its impressive... and ALSO knee high!  A week or two early!

Someday soon, I hope to do some art!  I am so anxious to get that table done.  What am I going to do with it?   I dunno.... it just has to be done.
Until next week!  Have a great week and remember to check out that Super Moon tonight!

Added PS:
Sneek peek at the legs of my table.  The pink and white need a second coat...

Its going to be BRIGHT!

June 16, 2013 Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to fathers here and there and everywhere.  I made a sign for The Hubs for his first Fathers Day that still hangs in our home... "A man never stands so tall as when he stoops to help his son."  I never figured that he really needed the reminder, he took to fatherhood like duck to water, and now that they are men, they will someday be good Daddies themselves.  SOMEDAY.  Not soon!

I usually post what I am up to, but the project I am on will take some time.  I will show it when it gets more exciting. Deal?

Until then, I'll continue to show my garden..

This week the Clematis has started to bloom out.

The lavendar is blooming much nicer this week...

And the corn has gotten higher because of the rain we had for a couple days this week...

The old farmers tell me their yardstick is if its "Knee high by the 4th of July" you have a good crop. Looks like it will be there and then some by then!

Will post more when there is more to post.  Have a wonderful week!

Saturday, June 8, 2013

Today has been a day of rest.  Kinda.
I displayed at First Fridays last night and it was a good one indeed.  The weather was beautiful, I was in the center of town in a beautiful store and sold a lot of cards.   The feedback was good and there was wine!  So it was all good.

Today I just wanted to sleep in.  And I did get an extra hour!  But we ran to town to pick up a few things, I did a few batches of laundry, and started working on another project.  Well, actually two. One bigger than the other...  heres a sneek peek...
This was part of a display table at a floral shop that was going out of business last fall, and they were selling this one and a bigger one which made me squuueeeeek my brakes, go back and buy them.  Funny, but I also got some deals on some really pretty table legs at another place that was going out of business last fall.  1 + 1 = CREATIVE TABLE, I think.   So, since we don't have much room to do a big item like this, it has to be done outside, which where we live, means June, July or August.   Stay tuned.... its beautiful in my mind already!
 These are the legs

Also, on my way to work on Wednesday, my brakes went squueeek again, and I had to go back and get this:

Ok, yes, I was all dressed for work in high heels and everything, and it was out on the curb for the trashman.  I have no pride whatsoever, apparently.... but I hope to make something out of it.    Stay tuned for this one too!.

The glimpse of the garden this week shows that the lavendar patch is looking pretty healthy and is starting to bloom out.  Smells wonderful!

The Cornfield hasn't gotten much taller, but then again, we haven't had any rain this week.  If we get some it will shoot!

Believe it or not, these things are in the geranium family.

Yes!  We have tomatoes!  These are of the grape variety~ in a pot on the deck.

And my word this year is SUNSHINE... How appropriate that this one adorns our garage.  Love that face!

Have a great week!

Added on Sunday evening...
I was hoping that I could at least get the chair done this weekend... I had some old heavy cording that I used to weave lawn chairs with.  Had a bunch left over.  But it wasn't until I ran out of the color I had, ( I thought I had picked the yarn I had the most of) to find out I didn't have enough.  Three quarters of the way through!
Also have a basket of different kinds of spray paint.  I was going to respray the metal part of the chair black, and refresh the paint.  But I took out a spray can, with a black top on it, and started spraying.... GOLD!  Why don't they write what color they are putting inside on the CAN, instead of saying CAP COLOR IS PAINT COLOR.... the darn CAP comes OFF!  And obviously, can be used for any can!   That being said, I rolled with it, because thats just how I roll...
So, for a chair I picked up on the side of the road, using leftover paint and yarn, this is how it looks... almost done, and wondering now if I should find more yarn (haven't seen this stuff in YEARS!) or tear it all off and do something different.
Maybe tear off the back and do wood or something.... I don't know... how do I get myself into these messes?

Sunday, June 2, 2013

I promised to do a shot of the cornfield out back... here it is this week.

The peonies are starting to bloom.  These have been here since we bought the house.  They smell wonderful! They decorated our two sons open houses when they graduated, as they are plentiful and blooming right now, when graduations are happening.  I put them in bowls with colored water to match the parties. Ours are all white, but every now and then we get a pink one.  The neighbors have beautiful red ones!   But these are the only white flower in the whole yard.

This week, we had a lot of rain, so although the irises came in plentiful, they aren't lasting long:

The Hostas seemed to appear out of nowhere!

And The Hubs added a little garden art instead of hooking up the real doorbell.  Haha... he's such a card!
So I missed showing the Lily of the Valley that I failed to take a pic of last week.  They were so pretty and smelled wonderful!
Thank you for going through the seasons of my garden with me.  I love seeing something new every week, and its fun to enjoy it WITH someone.

This week is First Fridays, and I have a lot of new stuff to share.  Most of what I have done here in the last few months.   Will let you know how it goes next week!!  Have a great one!
