Ok, so I know I am supposed to be doing a piece of artwork every day. I didn't do a new piece, but I did design a flyer for our local Legion Auxillary. That takes creativity too! Its just not as blog-worthy.
I also just got assigned a store to display in for our local First Friday event. Yes, THIS Friday. Like, DAY AFTER TOMORROW! So, I have been working on that, this evening.
AND, tonight, I ended up painting the same lady that I posted on my last post, but at 16x20. (She was 8x10 the first time) I should have done her that big to begin with, because I liked her so much, but I am now re-painting her. So, even though I am not posting a piece of artwork, I have been creative today. Tomorrow I work all day and have a class in the evening. Work all day Friday and have to set up art an hour after work. SO, trying to get everything done.
I will share a photo that I took today. We have had a lot of winter weather in the last 24 hours... here is what I woke to:
My hubby had the day off, and took his camera out and about and shot a cool shot I want to share:
Creativity comes in all kinds of ways, I guess. Mother Nature did it first, we just recorded it on film. As beautiful as winter CAN be, I am ready to see how beautiful Spring is, as soon as possible!

Ok, so its after 9pm, I just got home from class. I have been gone since 7am. My body is fighting off what the rest of my work team is battling, and the sandman is screaming at me. Good thing that I have two things to post tonight. I think I owe one yet from the weekend.
This one is my favorite passage. I find comfort in it and know that whoever is in charge of me has a full time job!
And this came from a photo I fell in love with a while back. Nothing deep, but I am happy with it. One of those things I felt compelled to do.
Well thats it for today. Time to call it a day!

Its been a heckuva week. I won't go into details but trust me when I say, its been a rollercoaster. Made a little better when Hubs brought me this, on Thursday. Gorgeous, and just the color I needed until I get some spring around here.
I have had to catch up on a lot of stuff this weekend. One of the creative things I have been doing is making book boxes. Not from any kind of pattern, but trying to make them up as I go along. Last one was from a beer case. Just for fun. Somebody probably can find flaws, but they were fun to do, and had to use my brain a little.
I started two paintings too, small ones, and hope to get them done to catch up on my goal of a piece of art a day. Books I am counting as one.
OK I'm back. The paint dried and the new one is ready to show.

Today is from a quote from Ayn Rand... and something about it resonates with me. "The guiding star is within." Everyone has something that stirs their soul. Everyone can feel deep down what is right and what is wrong, if they choose to listen. Everyone has a different path to get to what they are meant to be. The Guiding Star. The gut. Intuition.

I didn't get to post my yesterdays art, but now that its dry, I will show you what I did.
These are made from paper towel tubes. I saw it on pinterest and thought I would give them a try! I also made these:
OK finished my creative item of the day... todays:
I think everyone who puts themselves out there, and follows their hearts, does.
Have a great day!

Tonight, for no reason whatsoever, and with no quote to work with YET, I did this, because it just looked like it would be fun to do. Day 3:
This is done in colored pencil and has a little sheen that is tough to photograph. These are all brilliant beautiful colors. Deep and rich, but it didn't photograph that way. I will finish the legs and try to photograph again tomorrow in the sun. If these parts get any.

I am hoping to do one art piece every day from now until Easter. These pieces will work off of quotes about Peace, Love, Faith, Gratitude, etc. This may get a little tricky as I work full time and am taking classes twice a week, but I am going to try my best to try to produce SOMETHING every day. I have written down some pretty neat quotes and have just drawn out of the pile to start this off. Its a quote from Jimi Hendrix, and I was able to reproduce it pretty much the way I saw it in my head when I read it. Chalk one up for PEACE.

I started doing this white, large cat (is it a lion? tiger? not sure!) in pen and ink, from a picture I saw somewhere, for my LIGHT project. I used colored pencils for the eyes and nose and as I was doing it felt a case of de'ja vue. Like I had done this before.
Then I remembered a experiment I did years ago, with black paper and pastels. Yes, in a way, I HAVE done it before! (kinda! Is it a cougar? puma? wildcat? not sure!)
Even if I don't know my large cats, I think they are magnificent animals!
I am going to TRY to do something creative everyday for lent. What better way to celebrate a gift than to use it to its full potential. Its going to be a trial for me, as I work all day and will be taking classes twice a week, but I hope I can do it justice in the time I have to do it. Wish me luck!

I have joined a group called Creative Every Day. It seems to be a place that will inspire when I need inspiration, give me some challenges, and if I am not able to participate because of time or creativity constraints, will let me slide. In a lot of my art, I work from photographs and that seems easy to do. Every now and then, I work out of my head, and although I don't think its usually as good, I think there is room for expansion in that part of my brain. This group, and their, for lack of a better word, assignments, I hope will help me exercise that part of my brain to help express what comes from within me.
They have a challenge part that is daily, but I am going to start with the MONTHLY challenges, as I work 40 hours and am taking classes at night, so one per month is more attainable. And it doesn't feel like its too much to handle.
January 2013 assignment was "DARK".
I thought about how intimidating the dark can be, and how some of the artists were uncomfortable with the assignment. Its hard to go to the Dark and I think its our instinct to avoid it. But when you turn on the LIGHT, (February's assignment) you realize that whatever it was that scared you is nothing in the light. That the unknowing of waiting what is next walking in that door, is going to be OK.
So although, I too, was uncomfortable doing this one, I pulled out my pastels (which I haven't played with in awhile), and put them to board and did this:

I am glad to get this one behind me... and hopefully, LIGHT will be easier to deal with.
Ok, I am walking away from the dark now.
