Hello All!

Been really busy, so I will just show you what I've been up to.

In a previous post, I told you about the Bra Art Auction for the local Womens Health Center and showed you my first piece.  I showed the second one that I started and wasn't sure where to go on it, Well, really I still don't, but here is where its progressed:
Now where do I go with it? IDK  :/

Anyway, On a FB page I like about our beautiful state, I saw a barn I was drawn to do.  After being granted permission from the photographer, GR Photography, I painted it.  Its much cooler in person, I need to spend time getting a good picture that brings in all the nuances of it.  Here it is:
I was also trying to do a couple "postcards" for an auction for a museum about 3 hours from here.  I didn't get the word until almost too late, but I got one done.  After checking the website, they need to be in by tomorrow.  I don't think its going to happen.  But here is the one I got done...

Why a cow, you ask?  I don't know.  Just saw this guy out next to the road watching cars go by, and went back to take a pic.  So, couldn't waste all that effort....  make him a postcard!  Besides, the postcards are 4x6, and I usually paint in 16x20.  This is my effort to scale down a little.

On week 4 of the Journal52 effort, I am behind by two weeks.  OH, boy!  We are only 4 weeks in!

Still working on the friends new house welcome sign.  Wish me luck on that one.  Seems to be one of those projects that wants to take the hard way around.

At any rate, I think I will leave it at that this week.   Stay tuned!

Yes, when I am tired of thinking about life's extenuating circumstances you will find me in the art room!   Its the place I like to be when life is hard.  Or when its good.  Sometimes when I do something good in the art room it can turn the day around.  It feels like making lemonade out of lemons.  Anyway... I found this sign above and it hit home.

At the moment, I am working on a few things, some more bra art which may or may not make it to the auction, some other art for a fundraiser, a sign for some friends that just bought a new home, and all of the shenanigans that I have mentioned in this blog previously.  I haven't gotten to the things I bought at that yard sale... those are going to have to wait until warmer weather.   I am making some more of the coasters that I mentioned before.  Not sure why, probably to use what I have in the artroom in hopes of moving a few more things out of there.

I have been trying to back and matte some prints for sale, a couple at a time - the second of the resolutions I made this year - to sell more of my art this year.  The first one is using some of the stuff in the art room and getting it out of there.

I guess theres not much more to say this week.  I'll post some more when theres more to post!  Stay tuned....

Over the weekend, we went past a yard sale.  Yep, in the middle of the winter, a yard sale!  I made the Hubs turn around when I saw this..

It wasn't as big as it looked from the side of the road, but because I did one for someone else once, I have been looking for another one ever since.   Don't you hate it when you have several ideas and you can only use one?

Anyway, so while I am looking at this, I also saw this:
OMG, I just thought of a dozen ways to do it!  I offered 10 for the both and he said fine.

Of course, both may have to wait for warmer weather to start... we'll see!  Stay tuned!

January 11, 2014

This week we have  lived through a POLAR VORTEX.  Last Saturday we received about 12 inches of powdery snow.   We probably could have dealt with that, except for the wind, that gusted 25 to 30 mph and kept the windchills down to -45F.   Everything was shut down.  Its been kind of productive with art since I was stuck in the house... but now its +45 and everything is melting and slick.  80 degrees difference in one week.  Crazy!

Anyway... been doing some oddball things.  Another piece of Bra Art in progress:

And this pic that I printed off the web a while ago, (I don't know where) I did in colored pencil, and its not exact anyways. ..

And this barn that I took a pic of up north last winter, I have been wanting to do and now that I have done it, I am wondering why.  It just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.  Like it in the photograph, just not crazy about my rendition...

Then I have started the Journal52 Art Journal this week.  This weeks assignment is "Up, Up and Away!"  I see so much wonderful art in this group and its intimidating, and it isn't what I usually do.  I am going to try to stay true to myself and hang in there... and do better.  Although I usually fly by the first thing that pops into my head, (its served me well on most things) I want to start putting more thought into it.  These ladies ROCK in this group... and THIS is what I came up with...
Oh well, we go UP from here, right?  Thanks to my friends, Shells and Terri for talking me into not giving up after week one.

Sunday January 5th, 2014

Sorry, it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside... my word of the year AGAIN, is SUNSHINE.  The hint came when I found these art works and thought they were just coming out of my heart.  Nothing else came close.
